Standard filter elements require sterilization after cleaning. To do this, place the candle in a container of water and boil for 20 minutes. Allow the candle to cool before replacing it in the filter housing.
* NOTE: It is important to remember that the outer surface of these or any other non-self-sterilizing cartridges may be covered with harmful bacteria, so sensible hygiene precautions should be taken during handling, cleaning, refitting into the housing or disposal.
